MIDNIGHT’S BUDDING MORROW – Carolyn Miller

“Midnight’s Budding Morrow” by Carolyn Miller is the heartmoving story of a marriage of convenience between a wallflower and an unrepentant rogue. Both a conflict and a challenge, it is highly unlikely that real love can ever blossom between such an incompatible couple. Sarah Drayton spends time with her best friend at her crumbling Northumberland castle estate. Returning home from war, James Langley does not fulfill his responsibilities as the heir to a crumbling estate. He has to obey his father’s decree to marry before going back to war. Suddenly he finds himself wedded to Sarah Drayton, whom he unfortunately does not love. Craving love, Sarah longs fervently for a home to call her own. Only when her husband returns from war does Sarah begins to hope for real happiness. But has this roguish rake truly reformed? When tragedy strikes, they have to trust God and his plans. They ultimately discover that even in the darkest depths of the direst night, there still is a fragment of hope in Midnight’s Budding Morrow. These two utterly different people learn to love each other despite the social class issues between them. Plagued by grief and depression, their love is truly ‘forged by fire’ in the fiery furnace of difficulties and hurdles to overcome. In this poignant novel. Sarah selflessly sympathizes with her uncaring husband, though hopelessly trapped in a loveless marriage and often treated disrespectfully due to her lower social class. Her positive attitude shows that she knows she is dearly loved by God. I highly recommend this book to all readers of Christian Regency novels.

About the Series

While most stories set in Regency England focus on the rich, the young, and the beautiful, award-winning author Carolyn Miller decided she wanted to give readers something different for a change. Her new Regency Wallflowers series follows the commoners, away from the hustle and bustle of 1810s London, out in the Lake District of England. She tells the stories of women who are slightly older and have few prospects for marriage, women who might be considered “wallflowers.”
Midnight’s Budding Morrow is the second book in the Regency Wallflowers series. The first book in the series is Dusk’s Darkest Shores.
