PATRICK LARLEY (Composer)

THE SALUTATION – Thomas Traherne – Patrick Larley

Patrick Larley is a composer, conductor, harpsichordist and organist. He studied organ and singing at the Royal Manchester College of Music and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. He reveals 'an innate feeling for traditional form and style, yet his music is imaginative and inventive in its rich harmonic texture, strong melody and beautiful use of dissonance.' Patrick Larley's music is "listener accessable and performer possible." With a background steeped in sacred music, Patrick Larley 'weaves opposing strands of influence together, with his firm grounding in harmony, counterpoint and form, into the most beautiful musical structures which are, on the surface, uncomplicated, yet have great inner depth.' His musical style is fresh, tonal and approachable, with soft dissonances, soaring melodies and lilting syncopation. Patrick's choral works have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and performed widely in the UK and in America.
